Truth in 24 Review

Truth in 24 Review
Truth in 24 is a documentary from Keith Crossrow about Audi's participation in the 2008 Le Mans 24. It is an outstanding film that shows with an incredible level of detail how hard is to win the most famous endurance race in the motor sport world. Keith show you in a eye opening way the experiences of the different members of the race team, from mechanics, drivers to the team coordinator.
The cinematography mastery of Truth in 24 is astonishing, supported by the high definition filming, turns into an exquisite menu of visual effects while the Audi R10s take the famous Le Mans curves at 195 miles per hour. The use of different cameras and effects give the 100 minute film a refreshing take. Thanks to this, the documentary is incredibly enjoyable even for someone who is not a car enthusiast.
The use of the different sounds helps to truly understand the complexity of Le Mans racing cars. For example a Corvette has a totally different sound than a Ferrari F40 or the Audi’s R10 turbo diesel engine. The use of certain classical music pieces increases the dramatic factor throughout the race. Added to the precise, rich narration from Jason Staham, who shows us a refreshing facet that one would not expect from the main actor of The Transporter 2.
The current level of technological mastery that the teams have reached in the 24 hours of Le Mans is skillfully displayed during the film. For example it is amazing how choosing the right tire makes the difference between winning or losing the race, or how the different teams compulsively practice the procedures during pit stops. It really opens your mind regarding the complexity of this kind of races, the spirit of Le Mans is magically captured on this documentary.
From behind the scenes, there is so much that was unseen before this film. Such a challenging endeavor, becomes possible thanks to the expertise that the several elements of each team contribute with. It truly takes you to a personal level, so the viewer starts identifying himself with them. This connection makes the viewer feel expectant of what is going to happen next through the race.
The incredible amount of interesting details that are shown, the outstanding use of cinematography and the soundtrack to really capture the action, added to the perfect narration from Staham turns Truth in 24 into an suspenseful documentary that has you on the edge of your seat. Thanks to this attention to detail, I have to say Truth in 24 is one of the most amazing films of this kind that I have ever seen.
